Anna Nicole Smith Biography

Anna Nicole Smith was born Vickie Lynn Hogan in November of 1967 in Houston, Texas. She grew up in the Mexia, Texas area. She has five half siblings and was raised by her mother and aunt. Her parents divorced just before her second birthday. Her mother remarried in 1971 and she legally had her name changed at that time to Nikki Hart. Smith attended Mexia High School but dropped out during her sophomore year.

Smith often stated that Marilyn Monroe was her role model and she was the epitome of the classic voluptuous blonde. She became a single mother at the age of 20, and became famous after appearing nude for Playboy. She appeared on the cover of the March 1992 issue, listed as Vickie Smith. This cover picture made her an overnight modeling sensation. She was named Playmate of the Year in 1993. It was while working her modeling jobs for Guess jeans that she decided to use the name Anna Nicole Smith. She began modeling and was featured in numerous magazines including New York, Marie Claire, and Vanity Fair.

While performing at a Houston strip club, Smith met and married elderly oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall. The couple married in June of 1994. Thirteen months later, Marshall died at the age of 90. What ensued later has been media fodder for years. Smith became involved in a legal battle regarding her elderly husband’s estate, worth billions of dollars, fighting her stepson. This battle went back and forth in the courts until the death of her stepson. Smith, also, lost her own life on February 7, 2007, as a result of a prescription drug overdose. Smith’s will named her son Daniel as the sole beneficiary of her estate but her son passed away shortly before Smith did. Her daughter Dannie Lynn now appears to be the only living beneficiary of the Smith and Marshall estates. At the time of her death, Smith had a net worth of $50 million.
