Anne Cox Chambers was born in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of James Cox, a newspaper publisher. She attended Finch College in New York and has been married twice. She owns and controls the family business interests, which is Cox Enterprises. Ms. Chambers shared the business with her sister Barbara Cox Anthony before she passed away in May of 2007. Their brother passed away in 1974.

Ms. Chambers has always been active in both her family business and politics. Former President Jimmy Carter appointed her as ambassador to Belgium, a position she maintained from 1977 to 1981. Ms. Chambers was also the first female in Atlanta, Georgia, to be appointed to the board of the city’s Chamber of Commerce.

Serving as the Director of Cox Enterprises, Ms. Chambers oversees one of the largest diversified media companies in the United States.
