Anne Hathaway Biography

Anne Hathaway was born in November of 1982 in Brooklyn, New York. Her mother is a former actress, who was Hathaway’s inspiration.  The family moved to Millburn, New Jersey when she was 6 and she grew up there. As a child she wanted to be a nun, but when she discovered her brother was gay, she turned away from the Catholic Church.  Hathaway participated in numerous high school plays. She studied for a time at Vassar College, transferring to New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study as well as the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Her first television role was in the short lived series Get Real. Her real breakthrough role was in the very popular film The Princess Diaries. She has been appearing in blockbuster movies ever since that successful film including Les Miserables, Love& Other Drugs, Havoc, Brokeback Mountain, The Devil Wears Prada and The Dark Knight Rises. She has been nominated for numerous awards including two Academy Awards, three Golden Globes, and one BAFTA award. She won an Academy Award for her role in Les Miserables, where she played the role of Fantine and sang all of her own songs.

Hathaway was in a relationship with real estate developer Raffaello Follieri between the years of 2004 and 2008. Follieri was arrested on charges of defrauding investors in a real estate scheme. It is unknown if Hathaway lost any of her earnings to Follieri, but she ended the relationship. She has since moved on and married fellow actor Adam Schulman in 2012.

Hathaway has a current net worth of $15 million, which is certain to increase as this talented young actress has recently signed on to play the part of the White Queen in a sequel to Alice in Wonderland, scheduled for release in May of 2016.
