Anton, Anton Yelchin Biography

Anton Viktorovich Yelchin was born in Leningrad, Russia in March of 1989. His parents wanted their son to have a better life, so the family immigrated to America when he was just 6 months old. His father, Viktor, has been quoted as saying that they left everything behind because they feared for their son’s future. Yelchin’s parents had been celebrity ice skaters, but saw that their son was no athlete. He was, however, an outgoing boy and so they encouraged him to play “pretend” games and later, supported him in his desire to be an actor.

Yelchin’s acting debut was in an independent drama when he was just 9 years old called A Man is Mostly Water. He went on to work or star in numerous other television shows and films, including Curb Your Enthusiasm, Law and Order, Huff, Criminal Intent, Odd Thomas, Hearts in Atlantis, Terminator Salvation, and Alpha Dog. It was Alpha Dog that brought him recognition as a qualified actor and took him from child actor to true movie star material.

Yelchin is perhaps best known and loved for his recreation as the Star Trek character Pavel Chekov in the rebooted Star Trek movie series. Like other Star Trek movies, this series is incredibly popular and Anton’s take on Chekov’s character made him an instant hit with fans everywhere.

Yelton’s parent’s desires for his success paid off. He bought his Studio City, California, home in 2012 for $945,000. Unfortunately, Yelton passed away due to an accident involving his Jeep Grand Cherokee at his home on June 19, 2016. When Yelton did not show up for a rehearsal Saturday evening, his friends went to his home, where they found him pinned between the back of his vehicle and a brick pillar, which made up part of the fence around his property. His net worth at the time of his premature death was $10 million.
