Cameron Diaz Biography

Cameron Diaz was born in San Diego, California in August of 1972. She grew up in the Long Beach, California, area and attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School. Her first job was working as a model when she was 16. Elite Model Management signed her to a contract and she spent a few months working all over the world for companies such as Levi’s and Calvin Klein. In July of 1990, she was on the cover of Seventeen. She then worked a few months in Australia and did a commercial for Coca-Cola.

Diaz decided to audition for a movie called The Mask when she was only 21. She had no acting experience when they cast her for the lead opposite Jim Carey. She immediately began acting lessons and The Mask was one of the top 10 highest grossing films of 1994 with more than $343 million in worldwide sales.  It also put Diaz in the limelight as an actress and a sex symbol.

Diaz has gone on to act in many other successful films including My Best Friend’s Wedding, There’s Something about Mary, Being John Malkovich, Charlie’s Angels, Vanilla Sky, and the Gangs of New York, just to name a few. She has won numerous awards as well as receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2009. Seventeen years after The Mask, Diaz is still one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood.  Even when a movie is blasted by the critics, fans will still come to see Diaz, as with her 2011 movie Bad Teacher, which was skewered by critics but earned $216 million worldwide. Diaz is also a voice over actress and is extremely popular as the voice of Shrek’s Princess Fiona. She is the highest paid actress over 40 in Hollywood.

Diaz has a current net worth of $120 million, which is sure to increase as this very popular Hollywood super star continues to churn out the hits.
