Cristiano, Ronaldo, Cristiano Ronaldo, CR7, Sultan of the Stepover Biography

Cristiano Ronaldo was born in February of 1985 in Portugal. He was given the middle name of Ronaldo because his father loved Ronald Regan movies. He grew up in poverty, sharing one bedroom with his brother and two sisters. Ronaldo was very popular in school, but was expelled after he became violent with a teacher. Ronaldo began playing soccer when he was 8 but after he was expelled from school, he decided that if he focused solely on his soccer game, he might be able to play semi-professionally.

When he was 15, Ronaldo was diagnosed with a “racing heart”, which might have put an end to his career but after surgery, he was able to return to training within days. He began training at the Academia Sporting, a soccer academy. Ronaldo quickly came to the attention of numerous soccer teams and was soon being considered for numerous teams outside of Portugal, including Manchester United. Ronaldo became the first ever Portuguese player for Manchester United and signed up as the team’s 100,000 member in April of 2003. He also signed a very lucrative contract amount for $17 million. In 2007, Ronaldo signed a 5 year deal with Manchester United for a whopping $31 million. Although 2008 saw Ronaldo have a rocky start as he was banned for 3 games for headbutting an opponent, he still came off with a winning season. In 2009, it was announced that Ronaldo was moving to play for Real Madrid, in Spain. His new contract was now for $150 million, which would net Ronaldo a cool $25 million each year. Ronaldo has won numerous awards and is one of the most well known and well recognized players on the planet.

However, it appears that soccer is not enough for this young star. Ronaldo earns at least another $40 million each year in endorsements for such famous companies as Nike, Castrol and Konami. He also has his own line of perfume as well as his own clothing stores in Portugal called CR7, as well as another store aimed at high priced women’s gowns in Lisbon. Along with two other designers, Ronaldo has co-designed a series of CR7 men’s underwear and socks. It appears that this is the line Ronaldo is most proud of as he models his own underwear and recently released a video of himself, playing with a soccer ball, dressed only in his underwear, at his luxurious $7 million Spanish mansion.

Ronaldo might be feeling the need of some attention these days, having lost to Lionel Messi in the 2015 Ballon d’Or voting. But with a net worth in 2016 of $310 million, and at least another 10 years worth of playing time under his belt, it’s doubtful.
