Dustin Moskovitz Biography
Dustin Moskovitz was born in Gainesville, Florida, in 1984 and grew up in the Ocala, Florida area. He attended Vanguard High School, and then went to Harvard University as an economics major for two years. Moskovitz founded Facebook from the college dorm room he shared with Mark Zuckerberg. Originally intended as a means of helping residential Harvard students find and identify friends in other dorms, the program was so popular it crashed the college servers. Moskovitz took a year off from Harvard to work on the program with Zuckerberg, and the pair moved to Palo Alto.
Once in their new offices, Moskovitz hired 8 staff members. Moskovitz was the company’s first chief technology officer. Later he became vice president of engineering. Moskovitz was responsible for the company’s development and mobile strategy. He was directly involved in the inception and the growth of Facebook from the very beginning. Moskovitz was also the biggest investor in the mobile photo site Path.
As one of the co-founders of Facebook, Moskovitz owns a 6 percent share. He helped to raise capital in 2008 when the company was valued at $50 billion. Moskovitz left Facebook to form a new company called Asana. Although Asana has not reached the same level of success that Facebook has, it is still worth millions of dollars.
Moskovitz does not appear to relish being the youngest self-made billionaire in the world. It’s difficult to find out any information about him as he is very reclusive and rarely gives interviews. What is known about this reclusive billionaire is that he is very involved in marriage equality issues and the eradication of malaria. He also loves Burning Man performances and has even been known to fly in via helicopter in order to catch a show. Moskovitz has a current net worth of $8.1 billion and can well afford a fleet of helicopters if he so desires.
