Edward Roski Jr. Biography
Edward Roski Jr. was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Christmas day in 1938 but was raised in the Southern California area. He attended Loyola High School then later, the Marshall School of Business. He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1962 with a BS degree in finance and real estate. Roski served in the Marine Corp from 1962 to 1966 and is a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Majestic Realty was founded by his father, Edward Roski Sr. in 1948. Today, Majestic Realty owns more than 70 million square feet of industrial and commercial real estate around the country including Los Angeles, California and Atlanta, Georgia. Along with friend Philip Anschutz, Roski helped to build the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. Roski attempted to build a sports stadium in Industry, California, in hopes of attracting an NFL team. Although he was not successful in this endeavor, he is a minority owner of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team. Roski is owner of the Silverton Las Vegas, is currently developing a 440 acre business park on the site of the former Bethlehem Steel plant in Pennsylvania, and in 2001 made an offer to buy the former Las Vegas Hilton. Majestic Realty is the largest privately owned realty company in the US.
For Roski, however, it’s not only about business. He enjoys time off making deep water drives off the New Guinea coast, goes on bicycle tours across Burma and Russia, and has climbed to the base camps at Mt. Kilimanjaro in Japan and Mt. Everest in Nepal. Roski and his wife live in a lavish estate in Los Angeles, California, and they have 3 children. Roski has a current net worth of $4.1 billion, which will increase substantially if he does manage to build a stadium and get an NFL team to move to the Los Angeles area.
