Stewart and Lynda Resnick Biography

Lynda Resnick was born Lynda Rae Harris in Baltimore, Maryland in 1944 but was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated high school, and after a brief time at college, she took a job for the in-house ad agency at the Sunset House catalog. She then started her own advertising agency Lynda Limited, when she was merely 19.

Stewart Resnick was born in New Jersey in 1938. His family moved to California in the 1950’s. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles, and then the UCLA School of Law where he received his J.D. While he was still in law school, Resnick founded a janitorial service, which he sold in 1969.

Resnick took the money from his janitorial company and bought the Franklin Mint Company, known for making figurines, Civil War chess sets, and souvenir plates. Today he also owns many agribusinesses in the San Joaquin Valley of California in including Paramount Citrus, Teleflora, POM Wonderful, Fiji Water, and Suterra.

Resnick married Lynda Harris in 1973. This power couple is now the largest producer of pistachios, mandarin oranges, and pomegranates. They started the super food pomegranate craze with their POM Wonderful brand juice. They are also responsible for the marketing genius of relabeling “mandarin” oranges under the name of “Cuties”. This has led the couple to earn huge profits. Now, along with help of celebrities such as Stephan Colbert, they are trying to do the same with pistachios.

The Resnick’s are well-diversified and own two wineries, Fiji Water, and Teleflora, the flower-delivery service. Lynda left her advertising job to become the Executive Vice President of Marketing for Teleflora and won a marketing communications award. After some problems with the Franklin Mint, they sold the company in 2006.

The couple owns two huge homes, one in Beverly Hills, California, and the other in Aspen, Colorado. They have a current net worth of $4.1 billion.
