Taylor Swift Biography

Taylor Swift was born in Reading, Pennsylvania and grew up on a Christmas tree farm in Cumru Township, Pennsylvania. Her family owned several types of horses and she started riding them when she was a mere 9 months old. Growing up, she often competed in horse shows. The family moved when Swift was nine to Wyomissing, Pennsylvania and they spent summer vacations at their waterfront home in Stone Harbor, New Jersey.

Swift became interested in musical theatre when she was a pre-teen and began taking voice and acting lesson. Soon she was spending her free time performing at coffeehouses, karaoke contests, festivals, and sporting events. After watching a documentary about country singer Faith Hill, Swift became convinced that she had to go to Nashville, Tennessee, to break into the music business. She was 11 when she made an unsuccessful demo. Her family moved just outside Tennessee for Swift’s benefit. She was signed by RCA records to write music at the age of 14. At 16, she signed a record deal with an independent record label, Big Machine Records.  Her first album in 2006 rocketed her to fame with more than 5 million copies sold. Since then, Swift has gone on to record three more albums and had several number one hits. Swift has sold more than 20 million albums to date with almost 42 million digital tracks sold worldwide. She has won four Grammy awards, 5 CMT Music Awards and 6 American Music Awards.

In addition to her music and acting career, Swift has some very lucrative endorsements such as CoverGirl, Sony, Walmart, Target, and American Greetings cards. She has a current net worth of $200 million and Swift is just warming up. This young star is well on the way towards becoming one of the wealthiest and most well-known stars in the world.
